Menopause Belly Fat
Tales of a Homemaker in the Menopause series – Post 7
Menopause Belly Fat
I used to have a waist
It was right there somewhere between my ribs and hips, a proud divider of saree pleats and self-confidence
Now it seems to have migrated south, taken early retirement, or simply blended peacefully with the rest of me
My sarees fit differently, my blouses glare at me from the cupboard, and my weighing scale refuses to show mercy
And the cruelest part? I haven’t even been eating anything sinful — unless you count that one ladoo… okay, maybe five😉
The Expanding Mystery of Menopause Belly Fat
It started subtly. I thought maybe the clothes shrank in the washing process (my favourite excuse)
Then one fine morning, while trying to drape a saree, the petticoat string snapped
I stared at it in disbelief — betrayal of the highest order
Of course, my family is no help
My husband says kindly, “You look healthy.”
My son adds, “Like a cute teddy bear.”
But here’s the funny part — I’ve stopped panicking
I’m slowly learning to respect this body that’s carried me through years of chaos, childbirth and countless chapatis
The Homemaker’s Shape Shift Remedies for the Menopause Belly Fat
I’m not chasing a size anymore — just balance and energy
Here’s what helps me (and my mood also):
1.Morning lemon water with cumin — gently wakes up metabolism
2. Brisk walk or housework with music — trust me, sweeping counts as cardio!
3. Fenugreek seeds and coriander seeds soaked overnight alternatively— for sugar balance and digestion and thyroid imbalances
4. Small meals, big laughter- portion control– Nothing burns calories faster than laughing at yourself
5. Saree draping therapy. Sometimes I just wear one beautifully, no occasion needed — it reminds my body how graceful it still feels

The Spiritual Weigh-In for the Menopause Belly Fat
Menopause taught me that the body changes shape, yes but so does the soul
We soften, expand and grow in ways the mirror can’t even measure
The extra inches around my middle?
Maybe they’re not fat but maybe they are wisdom layers
Each curve, a story. Each line, a lesson
And honestly, I’d rather carry a few stories around my waist than emptiness in my heart
Reflection for Today’s Woman
“Don’t measure your worth in inches or kilos
Measure it in laughter and the experience lines and the love you’ve learned to give yourself in the process.”
hope you find this blog relatable
until next time. keep smiling
much love … stay happy … stay blessed … always
