WHY YOU NEED TO STOP FINDING FAULT IN OTHERS

STOP FINDING FAULT IN OTHERS

pointing out and mocking others is so much fun

we forget our own inner self in the long run

the joy humans derive in discovering other’s faults

they fail to look inwards and knock their own inner vaults

one finger points to the others while the other three towards us

its time to self evaluate and introspect and create a buzz

no man’s born with a perfect platter

everyone has to carve their own matter

enlightening your mind in seeing other’s good

utilizing the time in uplifting our souls which everyone should

making the world a better place

starting from within ourselves and spread joy and peace with god’s grace

WHY DO WE FIND FAULT IN OTHERS

maybe it’s the EGO that prevents us from appreciating and find some fault or the others in others

maybe it’s the JEALOUSY as we can’t see the other person in a better position and try to find some problems in their doings

maybe it’s the HATRED as when we hate or dislike a person, there’s nothing nice we can find in them

maybe it’s the IMPERFECTION or the INSECURITY in the person that we are not mature enough to appreciate the greatness of the person

a common man will never be able to evaluate a flawless diamond. but a trained and a knowledgeable jeweller can look at an uncut diamond and immediately estimate how precious it is

THERE’S A STORY OF A THIEF, DRUNKARD AND A SAGE

once, a sage was lying by the roadside deeply immersed in samadhi.

a thief while passing by that way, saw him and thought,” this person here must be a thief. he must have broken into some houses last night, and is now sleeping through exhaustion. the police will be here soon to catch him. so let me escape in time. ” saying this he ran away.

soon after, a drunkard came there and seeing the sage said, ” hello ! you have fallen into the ditch by drinking too much. i am steadier than yourself and am not going to tumble down.” saying this he too went away

last of all there came a sage, and realizing that a great saint was lying in the state of samadhi, sat down by his side and began to stroke his holy feet gently

thus our worldly tendencies prevent us from seeing the actual scene and we try to interpret things through our view of seeing things

5 WAYS HELPING US TO STOP FINDING FAULT IN OTHERS

1. looking inwards –

self introspection before criticizing the other person on whether it is inspired by our ego, jealousy, hatred or insecurity

discover that our opinion lacks true objectivity and are simply based on stereotyping or branding other’s qualities

2. self improvement –

instead of looking and judging others, look within and question whether …

…….are we that perfect person to point a finger on others ?

…….do we lack something within ourselves that we try to see the wrong in others ?

instead use that energy in self improving ourselves or rather evolving ourselves to being a better human being

3. why to focus on other’s flaws, why not look at their good qualities and learn from them

always focusing on the positives of the other person has a beneficial effect on us

merely focusing on the negatives of others is a reflection of our own pettiness and degraded state of mind

“the fly always sits on a festering sore on the body, ignoring the rest of the body that is beautiful” sanskrit proverb

” a crow dives to pick a single piece of trash even in a beautiful garden. it does not appreciate the beds of flowers and other plants instead “ sanskrit proverb

STOP FINDING FAULT IN OTHERS

4. accepting others –

who is perfect in this world. no one ! so what’s the big achievement if we find flaws in someone. don’t we ourselves have many

5. wrongs we find in others maybe beneficial to others

the most effective way of overcoming the tendencies to find faults in others is that whenever our mind looks at the flaws in someone, we should immediately try to look for the good things in that person and learn from them. everyone has some unique abilities and we can learn something good from everyone.

there’s a beautiful story related to this topic

STORY OF BHAGAWAN DATTATREYA AVADHUTA IN SHRIMAD BHAGWAD PURANA

one day, emperor yadu was passing through a forest when he saw avadhuta ( dattatreya ) seated in a joyous smile on his face.

the emperor asked avadhuta, ” what is the true source of your happiness ?. why do you look so happy all the time, when everyone in this world has some sorrow.”

bhagawan dattatreya replied, ” i am always happy because my atman ( soul ) has taught me a lot of things and because i have learned wisdom from 24 gurus ”

the emperor was surprised because it would have taken a long time to study under two dozen teachers.

so he requested bhagawan dattatreya to name his teachers and summarize what he learned from them.

but to the greater surprise of the emperor, bhagawan dattatreya did not name any rishi or scholar as his teacher. instead, he gave him a list that comprised of the honey bee, the earth, water, wind, sky, moon, sun, pigeon, snake, fish, python and so on.

he explained how everything surrounding us gives some profound teaching that we can practice every day in our lives

for example, people stomp on the earth everyday but she bears their blows patiently and instead gives food grains, flowers and fruits to human beings. likewise, we should just bear the abuses of others and always respond with kind words and gifts

the honey bee collects the essence from numerous flowers and then mixes it to make nectar like honey. in the same way, we should learn good things from everyone and use this knowledge from several sources to produce something more valuable

numerous rivers fall into the ocean, but the ocean never overflows and stays calm in the interior. in the same way, not matter what difficulties befall us, we should always keep our heart and mind stable

in this way, bhagavan dattatreya explained to him the lessons that he had learned from all his 24 teachers

emperor yadhu was very much impressed with the message that it strongly sent across that a person who does not want to succeed will only dwell on the negative of others. rather look at the goodness in people or things and learn from them
