INTRODUCTION TO WORKING WITH NON-ATTACHMENT

it says, ‘ work as if you are a stranger, a sojourner and work incessantly, relentlessly and work hard
work like a master, perfecting every moment however small they may be , putting all your focus into it and work through freedom and through love
meaning don’t feel burdened by work but love your work and get through it
do not try to work like a slave burdened by work, hating what you do, having ego issues, ruining office relationships
and all these can happen when you dO NOT EXPECT anything in return
WHY WORKING WITH NON-ATTACHMENT IS ESSENTIAL
Work hard and do your work with all discipline, honesty and love and leave the result to god
do not get attached to the result. that is where all the problems arise , all the anxiety, stress, fear comes to play
you would not perform with that ease if you constantly think of the result
take the example of the nurse of the baby. she treats and takes care of the baby very lovingly and fondly does all her duties.
but when the time is over for her to leave, she leaves her work and moves on to another child to take care of
she is not attached to the child though she has looked after them because that is her profession
that should be our case as well in regarding to work
NON ATTACHMENT is the key
work hard but do not be attached to the work and it’s results
and there lies our success
when we work hard and diligently, lUCK automatically tends to favor us
we move ahead with total freedom and love and life seems to be much enjoyable
whenever doing our duty, do not think anything beyond work
do your work as worship and devote your whole life for it
do it with cheerfulness and wholeheartedness

without attachment, it leads to highest realization of perfection of soul
to the grumbler, all the duties are distasteful, nothing will ever satisfy him and his whole life will be a failure
so let’s work to put our SHOULDERS TO WHEELS and do our duty diligently
then surely we shall see the light
never will unhappiness or misery come through work done without ATTACHMENT
one of the key benefits of performing our duties without attachment is the peace of mind that it brings along
when we are attached to the outcome of the work, we are constantly worried about the results and our own self image.
this can lead to stress, anxiety and even depression
the bhagwad gita says that once i have decide to perform an action, i have no choice with reference to it’s results
you have the right to work, but for work’s sake only.
you have no right to the fruits of the work.
desire for the fruits of the work must never be your motive in working
work done with anxiety results in far inferior work
perform every action with your heart fixed on the supreme lord.
renounce attachments to the fruits.
be even tempered in success and failure
desire is the cause. attachment is the result
once an attachment is formed, it keeps the desire alive by inflaming it
attachment interferes with the person’s ability to think clearly or rationally
but on the contrary, if a person is free of attachment, he becomes equal to attachment and aversion
a person who practices karma yoga ( yoga of action ) by restraining his mind and senses and without being attached, he is exceptional
while attachment itself is not inherently negative, the attachment that leads to dependency and suffering is what the bhagwad gita warns us against
we have the right to do our duties, but the results are not dependent only upon our efforts
a number of factors comes into play in determining the results namely – our efforts, our karmas, the efforts of others, the cumulative karmas of people involved in the act, our past karmas, luck, etc.
if we are unconcerned about the results, we are able to focus entirely on our efforts and the results will be even much more better than before
if we can enjoy digging the garden without anxiety about whether and how it will bloom, maybe we will do a better job, and perhaps we will appreciate the flowers and the fruits of our labour even more when they arrive
that doesn’t mean that we should not have goals, ambition or mission, but we can find happiness in the work, the process rather than the end result and be more happier and content in life

CONCLUSION ON WORKING WITH NON-ATTACHMENT
1. when we detach from things we cling to, we open ourselves to the adventures of life and allow ease to enter into our lives as we are no longer fighting against what is
2. if we let go of the outcomes, we allow peace and happiness to enter our lives
3. non attachment is not the elimination of desires –
it in fact opens up the space in your mind, allowing quality thoughts or feelings to arise without closing around it
4. it is being receptive to life
5. we waste time worrying about future, about the results of our current action but on the contrary, detachment or non- attachment to results allows us to be more simplistic, more aware of our fears
6. be open to all that the universe has to give instead of getting trapped in the one way the ego sees the situation to get the desired results
7. through this openness , allow life to unfold to many unexpected opportunities in life and allow peace and ease to enter our lives and sail through it
