WHY ONLY PANCHANGA NAMASKAR FOR WOMEN

PANCHANGA NAMASKAR FOR WOMEN

panch – anga namaskar means

Five – Body Parts namely toes, knees, arms, palms and forehead

nam – to bow to

as – to be or to exist

kar – doing or one who does

hence panchanga namaskar means – the women kneels down with the palms joined together or touching the feet of the revered one in the front along with the forehead

WHY WOMEN WERE FORBIDDEN TO DO SASHTANGA NAMASKAR

sashtanga namaskar
– full body namely 8 parts – chest, head, hands, feet, knees, body, mind and speech

‘ a women’s belly ‘ or womb area holds the life of the foetus and gives birth to a child, so it is considered as sacred.

a women’s heart or the chest area creates within itself the nourishment for the foetus and later feed the baby

these two areas of the women are considered sacred and very Sensitive and the slightest pull of any of these muscle could disturb their maternity

hence the chest area and the stomach area of a women should not come in contact with the ground. so panchanga namaskar is suitable for women

TO ADD FURTHER TO THE TOPIC

for the hindus, womanhood means motherhood when we address women, we call them ‘ mother’

vedas say ‘ maatra devo bhava’ ( revere the mother as god ) giving first place to the mother

In india, god is worshipped in many forms of women, as lakshmi devi, saraswati devi, durga devi and all forms of devis are fondly addressed as mother

in indian culture, we revere and respect the soul inside another body as we believe ‘ god resides in every living thing

We do not interrupt our worship to attend something else. but when the MOTHER calls, our scriptures tells us to attend on her even if we are in the middle of gayatri japa

The lord himself has taken many births from a woman’s belly, so he is no exception

So the scriptures gives the rule that woman should not fully prostrate on the ground like men do to honor motherhood

BENEFITS OF SASHTANGA NAMASKAR

1. It strengthens the womb area of the women namely the uterus of the women

2. when this namaskar is performed, the manipura chakra or the solar plexus area around the navel gets activated

3. the solar plexus is the center of vitality and it controls our balance by strengthening our health

4. it activates the digestive organs and hence improves our digestive
