THE FOUR AGREEMENTS BOOK
the four agreements written by don miguel ruiz. everything you need to know about how to lead a powerful and a peaceful life
wHAT ARE THE FOUR AGREEMENTS
It’s an ancient toltec wisdom and provides practical guidance to personal freedom and spiritual growth
the book is based on the four agreements which when practiced can lead to a more fulfilling and a harmonious life
these agreements guide our behaviour. they act as an internal compass by which we decide what to do and not to do
this book represents four agreements that we should make with ourselves in order to make a good life
the four agreements are :
1. BE IMPECCABLE WITH YOUR WORD
this agreement emphasizes the power of words and importance of using them fruitfully
it encourages you to speak positively and with integrity, avoid gossip and self criticism and use your words to uplift yourself and others
our word is the most powerful tool at our disposal for creating things
with our words we can create the most beautiful dream or destroy everything around you
we must be very careful how we use that power
the human mind is like a fertile ground where seeds are continuously being planted
be careful what seeds you are planting in others in the things you say to them
and be very careful what seeds are planted in your own mind by the voice inside your head

2. DON’T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY
author explains that much of what people say and do is a projection of their own reality and not a reflection of you
therefore don’t take things personally
being at peace with ourselves and not absorb anyone’s garbage
be contented with oneself and don’t wait for anyone’s approval to be accepted
love with whatever you perceive
don’t take other people’s self opinion and apply them to yourself
it is important to recognize that this goes both ways : if someone insults you then don’t take it personally but also if someone gives you immense praise, then also don’t take it personally and use these insults and praises as a building block to boost your ego

3. DON’T MAKE ASSUMPTIONS
it highlights the dangers of making assumptions about other’s intentions, thoughts or feelings
instead it encourages you to ask questions and communicate openly to avoid misunderstandings and conflict
if any problem or situations arises then do not assume. rather confront the person and know their perspective and then make a move
all of us view the world differently according to our background and our experiences
we need to know that everyone is looking at this world through their own tinted glasses
the outlines would be somewhat similar but the finer details will be different from person to person
the way to combat this is to have the courage to admit that you don’t know and then ask questions
rather than making assumptions and guessing, by being upfront and asking questions we can get more information required
we can truly KNOW something rather than just aSSUMING

4. ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST
it encourages you to give your best effort in every thing you do but also reminds you to be forgiving and compassionate towards yourself
your bEST may vary from day to day so it’s important not to judge yourself too harshly
to do one’s best, no matter whatever circumstances, no matter however smaller the tasks, just enjoy it and give it your best
that teaches you to be in the present, here and now, to be aLIVE
In every moment of your life when you do your best then there is no room for regret in life
and if one day you don’t do your best? don’t stress about it, don’t worry about it, don’t replay the moment over in your head. put a full stop at the end of that day. tomorrow is another opportunity for you, so make sure you do your best

so these were the four agreements….
it ends with living life as if it was your last day surrendering to the ANGEL OF DEATH and living a fulfilling life
this book is a must addition to your home library
you must read, reread, reread and understand and act on the essence the author tries to convey
the four agreements has resonated with many readers and have been widely acclaimed for it’s simplicity and wisdom in addressing common challenges in human relationships and personal development
