HOW PICKLES FORM AN IMPORTANT PART OF OUR DIET

lemon pickle is a traditional indian condiment made with lemons ( or limes ) and spices and an optional ingredient that is oil

pickles are eaten as a side dish in an indian meal and is believed to aid indigestion when eaten in small quantities

so let’s go straight to the recipe

INGREDIENTS FOR THE SWEET LEMON PICKLE

1. lemons 5 to 6 nos.

2. jaggery … equal quantity

3. salt

4. red chilli powder

HOW TO MAKE THE SWEET LEMON PICKLE

1. Cut the lemons into small pieces

2. melt the jaggery a little with water so that they they become a thick liquid – this can be done with powdered jaggery or jaggery cubes

mix this jaggery liquid to the cut lemons and keep it aside for half an hour to one hour so that the jaggery blends and mixes well with The lemons

SWEET LEMON PICKLE

3. place the lemons in the kadhai on sim.

boil it till the jaggery thickens and is coated well with the lemons

4. turn off the gas, put salt and red chilli powder and mix well

5. keep it closed for some time

6. transfer it in small glass jars and let it rest for one day for all the spices to mix

khatta meetha lemon pickle or achar ready to serve. very simple and easy to make

this is the healthier version of the pickle

but if you want to add a little zing to it then you can give a tadka of hot till oil tempered with hing and lemon
