HOW TO USE THE POMODORO TECHNIQUE FOR MORE PRODUCTIVITY

POMODORO TECHNIQUE

WHAT IS POMODORO TECHNIQUE

The pomodoro technique which is a structural series of shorter period of Focus that builds in time for your brain to take a break

the pomodoro technique boosts productivity by helping you break down larger tasks into smaller pieces as well as improving our memory, reducing Mistakes and keeping focus Through regular breaks

pomodoro technique was developed in late 1980s by the then university student francesco cirillo

cirillo was struggling to focus on his studies and complete his assignments

fully overwhelmed, he asked himself to commit to just 10 minutes of focused study time

encouraged by the challenge, he found a tomato ( pomodoro in italian ) shaped kitchen timer and the pomodoro technique was born

the rule applies even if you finish your task before the time goes off.

use the rest of your time for overlearning or improved skills or scope of knowledge

HOW DOES THE POMODORO TECHNIQUE HELP

the procrastination busting strategy is exactly what the pomodoro technique asks you to do –

break down your big tasks, projects or goals into something you only have to do for the next 25 minutes

it keeps you hyper focused on the next thing you need to do rather than getting overwhelmed by the enormity of what you are taking on

don’t worry about the outcome – just take one pomodoro at a time

the pomodoro technique helps you resist all the self interruptions ( namely social media interactions ) and re-train your brain to focus

each pomodoro is dedicated to one task and each break is a chance to reset and bring your attention back to what you should be working on

SO LET’S START THE POMODORO TECHNIQUE

pomodoro technique is a 5 step simple productivity method

1. pick one important task Or aim out of many tasks.

if you don’t pick one aim, then you will be randomly checking your emails or you will be hopping and juggling between tasks or putting off the one with the most resistance.

so start with one task in hand so that you get focused and gain momentum

2. start the timer

set the timer for 25 minutes

this is the optimal time to stay 100 % focused

start your timer

work on your task

don’t stop till the timer goes off

when you are done, take a quick break

3. short breaks

take a quick 5 minute break

in this break, avoid energy draining or attention stealing task like

— scrolling on social media

— intense exercise

— heavy eating

where you lose focus, become lethargic or dull or get tired

instead, take a restorative break like drinking water, getting some sunlight and eating a small snack

4. now go to the task again

set another timer .

do exactly the same thing as before

1 task

25 minutes – 100 % focus

5 minutes restorative break

keep repeating until you reach 4 consecutive pomodoros

5. rinse and repeat

after 4 consecutive pomodoro, give yourself a LONGER BREAK

make this last for 30 minutes

take a break that revitalizes your energy

when you are well rested, then you can repeat the process

summary of the above

1. pick a task

2. start timer

3. short break

4. do another one

5. rinse and repeat

HERE’S TO CONCLUDE WITH A DISCLAIMER

i am no teacher or saint to preach or teach people

but by god’s grace i come upon such references from books and teachings from spiritual books which gives us a lot of wisdom and ways to live our valuable life meaningfully

and teach ourselves and the people whom we associate with – to live with the right code of conduct and to raise our standard of living

making smaller changes in life will not only help us be a better individual but also bring a valuable change in the society, in the current scenario which is very much required

however small it may be but let’s atleast start from OURSELVES

let’s make the world a better place with our small efforts in all aspects of living

so that’s all friends, hope i could bring some insight in you

until next time, keep smiling

much love .. stay happy .. stay blessed … ALWAYS
