Ginger Root
There are mornings when there’s a lull in your internal system where world feels slow and heavy and even taking a deep breath seems like a small act of bravery
On one such morning, I found a piece of ginger root on the kitchen counter — small, knotted and assuming waiting to heal me
on days when i feel low in my body, my mother would slice a thin piece of the ginger into boiling water, letting the steam curl through the kitchen, through the house and through the bones
The scent alone was invigorating, sharp, earthy and somehow fearless. That tiny root seemed to whisper, “You can face the day.”
Ginger is medicine and metaphor all in one
In Ayurveda, it kindles the digestion, clears the stagnation and warms the system both literally and energetically
Spiritually, it is courage in the root form. Just as its fire heats the body– it awakens resolve, determination and resilience
I remember a rainy day when I brewed ginger tea after a long, exhausting week
As I sipped the hot, pungent liquid, I felt a quiet transformation — my fatigue loosened, my thoughts sharpened and clear and focused with the heat and my heart carried a spark of hope
Ginger root, I realized, doesn’t rush or force healing rather it encourages it, gently fanning the small embers of energy we often overlook
Even in cooking, ginger carries this lesson
A little in the curry, a little in the tea, a little in the chutney and suddenly the ordinary is alive with courage

It reminds me that sometimes strength is not loud or dramatic, but quite subtle and persistent
Reflection on the ginger root:
Ginger teaches that courage is a quiet fire always present, waiting to be noticed
A simple slice, a steaming cup and a mindful breath — and suddenly, the world feels a little braver and a little warmer
