Conversations with Lord Krishna – Episode 2:
tOPIC – “Krishna, Why Should I Try If Outcomes Are not in My Hands?”
This post explores the modern frustration with uncertainty, results-based validation and the paradox of effort vs surrender answered through Karma Yoga
Me: lord Krishna, I don’t get it. You say I should act without being attached to results. But… what’s the point of trying if I have no control over the outcome?
lord Krishna (smiling): You’re mistaking the fruit for the tree
Me: Huh?
lord Krishna: You plant a seed. Water it, protect it, nurture it
Whether it will bear any fruit or when it will is not fully in your hands. But the act of planting? That’s yours
Me: So you’re saying I should just… do my part and not care what happens?
lord Krishna: Not “not care” but do not cling to it
“You have a right to perform your prescribed duties, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions.” (Gita 2.47)- as briefly described in the previous blog
Me: But don’t results matter? Don’t we need goals to progress?
lord Krishna: Results matter but not as chains. Let goals guide you and not bind you
When you act from your presence, with full attention and sincerity and full surrender then that is sacred. Success or failure cannot touch the purity of that offering
Me: So… effort is the purpose?
lord Krishna: Yes. The effort purifies. The action shapes you
When you give your best without fear or craving, you become free and freedom is the true fruit
Me (quietly): That’s hard
lord Krishna (kindly): That’s why it’s Yoga.. karma yoga
🔹 Reflection Prompt for Readers:
What is the one action you’ve been avoiding because you’re afraid it “might not work”?
