Conversations with Lord Krishna – Episode 1:

tOPIC – “I Feel Lost in My Career”

Me: Lord Krishna, can I ask you something that’s been eating me up?

lord Krishna (smiling): Of course. Speak freely

Me: I feel stuck. Everyone around me seems to be moving ahead — new jobs, promotions, startups. I’m just… here. I keep wondering if I’m on the wrong path

lord Krishna: What makes you think there’s a “right” path that looks the same for everyone?

Me: Isn’t there? I mean, if I’m not climbing, achieving, outperforming — what am I even doing?

lord Krishna (gently): You are not here to outperform. You are here to express

Let me remind you of something I told Arjuna:

“Better to fail in one’s own dharma than to succeed in the dharma of another.” (Gita 3.35)

Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 3, Verse 35

श्रेयान्स्वधर्मो विगुण: परधर्मात्स्वनुष्ठितात् |
स्वधर्मे निधनं श्रेय: परधर्मो भयावह: || 35||

śhreyān swa-dharmo viguṇaḥ para-dharmāt sv-anuṣhṭhitāt
swa-dharme nidhanaṁ śhreyaḥ para-dharmo bhayāvahaḥ

Translation

BG 3.35:  one’s own natural prescribed duty, though devoid with merits, is preferable to the duty of another well performed.. even death in the performance of one’s own duty brings blessedness; another’s duty is fraught with fear

LORD KRISHNA

Precisely speaking in a layman’s voice

It is more enjoyable to be ourselves than to pretend to be someone else. The duties born of our nature can be easily performed with stability of mind.

The duties of others may seem attractive from a distance and we may think of switching but If they conflict with our nature, they will create disharmony in our senses, mind, and intellect and that will be detrimental for our consciousness and will hinder our progress on the spiritual path

Shree Krishna emphasizes this point dramatically by saying that it is better to die in the faithful performance of one’s duty than to be in the unnatural position of doing another’s duty.

Every man should take up his own ideal and endeavour to accomplish it. That is a surer way of progress than taking up other men’s ideals, which he can never hope to accomplish

Me: Swadharma, right? But how do I even know what my true path is?

lord Krishna: Your Swadharma is not found in noise — not in LinkedIn likes, not in salary slips, not in the timelines others set. It is found in quiet. In what energizes you, not what exhausts you

Me: But what if I choose wrong? What if it doesn’t work out?

lord Krishna: You’re still attached to outcomes. Do your duty, not for the fruits of action. (Gita 2.47)

True success is not outer applause. It’s inner alignment. When your work flows from your essence, not your ego

Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 2, Verse 47

कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन |
मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि || 47 ||

karmaṇy-evādhikāras te mā phaleṣhu kadāchana
mā karma-phala-hetur bhūr mā te saṅgo ’stvakarmaṇi

Translation

BG 2.47:  You have a right to perform your prescribed duties, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, nor be attached to inaction

Precisely speaking in a layman’s voice

Do your duty, but do not concern yourself with the results

We have the right to do our duty, but the results are not dependent only upon our efforts

A number of factors come into play in determining the results like our efforts, destiny (our past karmas), the will of God, the efforts of others, the cumulative karmas of the people involved, the place and situation (a matter of luck), etc.

Now if we become anxious for results, we will experience anxiety whenever they are not according to our expectations

So lord Krishna advises Arjuna to give up concern for the results and instead focus solely on doing a good job

The fact is that when we are unconcerned about the results, we are able to focus entirely on our efforts and the result is even better than before

To work without expecting success or good results would be meaningless, but to be fully prepared for the unexpected should be an important part of any planning

The essence of KarmaYoga is to go to work just to please the creator; mentally renounce the fruits of all action; and let God take care of the results

Do your duty in life to the best of your ability as God’s personal servant without any regard for the personal enjoyment of the fruits of your work

Me (after a pause): So… hope I’m not late?

lord Krishna (smiling wider): You’re not late. You are exactly where you need to be, at the right place and the right time to ask this question and to hear the answer

thus i got my doubts cleared by lord krishna’s grace🙌 … what about you my friends😊
