ANGER MANAGEMENT

A STORY IN HINDU MYTHOLOGY OF LORD KRISHNA oN ANGER MANAGEMENT

it is based from the life of lord krishna when on earth

it shows us how our opponents become stronger by the amount of Anger expressed by us on certain situations

once sri balarama ( krishna’s brother ), shri krishna and shri satyaki ( krishna’s devotee and yadu clan chieftain ) had left their palace for some work.

all three of them had their own horses

they reached a dense forest

as it was getting dark, they decided to go no further and agreed to spend the remaining night there in the forest

they tied their horses to trees in a safe clearing place

the first quarter of night passed

they had to spend the remaining three quarter of night in the forest

they decided to stand guard by turns every quarter of the night while the Other two would sleep

shri satyaki volunteered to stand guard the first quarter of the night

when lord krishna and Balarama fell asleep, a Small demonic Being got off the tree and challenged the chieftain satyaki for battle

the warrior took up the challenge as he was angered by the demon’s taunting tone

as the fight began, the demon started to grow in size

seeing the enlargement of the demon, satyaki got even more angry and he got wounded several times

a quarter of night passed with satyaki and the demon fighting and just as the quarter ended, the ghost disappeared

satyaki woke up balarama and himself went to sleep warning balarama of the demon

as balarama stood guard, the demon appeared again and started quarrelling with balarama and talked to him just like he had with satyaki

balarama too became angry and started fighting with the demon

as balarama was the foremost wrestler of those times and guru to famous fighters, his pride was wounded and that increased his rage

in proportion to balarama’s rage, the demon grew in size

with the end of his quarter, he woke up krishna and told him about the demon and it’s increasing size Before going to sleep

when krishna started to stand watch over the place, the demon appeared and started quarrelling and challenging krishna

instead of becoming angry, the lord remained completely under self control and asked the demon in a tranquil voice as to why he wanted the fight

as the demon pounced on krishna, sri krishna laughingly appreciated him of what a good fighter he was

as sri krishna said these words, the demon’s size and strength started to decrease in proportion to the calmness of krishna

the more the demon tried to provoke krishna, the more lord krishna smiled and watched the demon shrink in size

gradually the demon became the size of a worm. immediately shri krishna Tied it in the corner of his blanket

as all three woke up early in the morning, Sri krishna opened the knot, took the worm and put it on the ground

he explained to them the secret of happening

he said, ” this was none other than the KRODHASURA, the demon of anger. he gained size and strength from The anger in the two of you and grew in size

in my case, his strategy did not work. i remained calm and only smiled at his tactics and challenges

my peacefulness drained him of his strength, i did not let him suck out energy from my anger and thus he lost in size and potency until he became as tiny as a worm

look at the worm, he is pathetically writhing in his own anger and moving away. i only pity him

thus Sri balarama and sri satyaki learnt an Important lesson

OUR ANGER ONLY ENHANCES THE STRENGTH OF OUR ENEMY

we should maintain our calm and mental poise even in the face of a raging enemy

self control is very important to gain victory over ourselves

if we control our anger, the anger of the opponent disappears

form and strength of anger will increase to the extent you show anger

it just takes a second to throw a stone into a bucket of water but the ripples that this sets off Takes a while to settle down

just the same way – it is easy to lose one’s temper in a second, but the Consequences last for a long time

WHAT IS THE SOLUTION TO EASE OUR ANGER ON SITUATIONS AND PEOPLE RELATED ANGER MANAGEMENT

we need to introspect- whether there is really any need to react

when someone get’s angry, it is their perspective, their character that they depict

it is upto us, to know whether we become like them and give them back and make situation worse

or stop taking those insults, saying that it is their character, not ours. it is upto to us to say NO or YES to reactions

it is definitely not an easier job but with pRACTICE we can achieve some amount of Calmness within us

and yes lastly, do not forget to BLESS the person with peace and wisdom who is hurling at us with abuses

not an easy task, though, but this definitely will bring down the anger in the opposite person

control of anger, thus, is the first step in the attempt at spiritual progress

i am no saint or a teacher but a normal person in a quest to learning things which can improve my life

so thought of sharing the insights which i got from books or teachings for the benefit of everyone

change starts from us rather than blaming the society or the person,

let us bring a change in our selves for others to notice

let us change ourselves first, then our home environment, the society will improve on it’s own
