WITH LORD KRISHNA
Let me share with you few general problems in our lives which needs introspection and questioning
the biggest hindu scripture – the bhagwad gita where krishna teaches arjuna about various aspects of life has all the answers to our problems
so let us together enlighten ourselves by asking few questions to lord krishna and find solutions to the certain topics with the help of shlokas and their meaning
https://www.bhagavad-gita.org/
so let us all gear up
a timely reflection on how to maintain the inner peace when the world feels tense, polarized, and reactive with wisdom straight from the Bhagavad Gita’s teachings on samatvam (equanimity) and the root of anger
Conversations with lord Krishna – Episode 3:
“Everyone’s So Angry. How Do I Stay Calm?”
Me: lord Krishna, it is like everyone’s always angry now, at home, At work. Even in families. I try to stay calm, but it gets to me sometimes.. i am not able to control my anger
lord Krishna: That is because you think their fire needs your fuel. Step back. Observe
Me: But isn’t silence the same as agreeing? Or weakness?
lord Krishna: Not when silence is grounded in awareness. Stillness is not weakness , it’s strength under control
“He who is not disturbed by the incessant flow of desires—that enter like rivers into the ocean, which is ever being filled but is always still—can alone achieve peace.” (Gita 2.70)
āpūryamāṇam achala-pratiṣhṭhaṁ
samudram āpaḥ praviśhanti yadvat
tadvat kāmā yaṁ praviśhanti sarve
sa śhāntim āpnoti na kāma-kāmī
BG 2.70: as the water of different rivers enters the ocean, which, though full on all sides, remains undisturbed; likewise, he in whom all enjoyments merge themselves without causing disturbance attains peace; not he who hankers after such enjoyments
what does this verse mean…
though rains and floods join the ocean, it does not expand. It remains the same, immovable.
In the same way, the sage of steady wisdom remains unmoved, when all desires flow into him without producing any reactions of the mind or the body.
All the enjoyments of the sense-world may come to him, but they are all absorbed in the blissful experience of the Self. He does not recognize them as anything other than the bliss of Self-realisation.
He knows only one Reality one happiness in which everything is dissolved as all the waters are absorbed by the ocean
Similarly, the sage may be placed on the most painful circumstances and yet he knows only one Reality and one happiness (Ananda). The pain also merges into the same reality and disappears.
Me: But anger seems everywhere. Is it… contagious?
lord Krishna: Very much. And it has a pattern. Listen closely —
“From attachment comes desire; from desire, anger; from anger, delusion; from delusion, loss of memory; from loss of memory, destruction of intelligence; and from destruction of intelligence, one perishes.” (Gita 2.62–63)
Bhagavad Gita Verse 62-63, Chapter 2
dhyayato vishayaanpumsaha sangasteshoopajaayate |
sangaatsanjaayate kaamaha kaamaatkrodhobhijaayate || 62 ||
the man dwelling on sense objects develop attachment for them; from attachment springs up desire and from desire ( unfulfilled ) ensues anger
krodhaadbhavati sammohah sammohaatsmritivibhramaha |
smritibhramshaad buddhinaasho buddhinaashaatpranashyati || 63 ||
from anger arises delusion; from dilusion, confusion of memory, loss of reason; and from loss of reason one goes to complete ruin

what does these verse mean…
These two verses are of great importance for the spiritual aspirant. The gradual process of Self-destruction is traced here with psychological accuracy
The contemplation of sense objects is the first step in the downward process. The enemy enters the house in the guise of a friend, and gradually occupies the whole house, and pushes the owner out
There is an English Proverb – “Give me room to sit down, and I can make room to lie down.” Such is the power of Maya that from very small imperceptible beginnings, it grows almost to infinity
At first, the man may not have any particular attachment to anything, but gradually the senses prompted by past samskaras settle on a particular object and the mind begins to contemplate it
So a kind of contact is established between the mind and that object, the senses being the connecting link
The object may be anything from the fashionable piece of dress to the glamour and glory of an Emperor. That contact becomes stronger and stronger, and a deeply felt desire arises to possess and enjoy that object. This is Kama. It is the worst enemy of man
When Kama enters the mind, just behind him comes Krodha. These two are eternal associates of evil. One cannot be without the other. Such is the closeness of their intimacy
The frustration of desire causes anger and hatred. Krodha is like powerful alcohol.
So it is said here that delusion (sammoha) over-powers him by anger (Krodha). Delusion causes loss of memory.
The deluded man, fired with anger, forgets the people with whom he is dealing. Be he a father or Guru, or friend; the angry man abuses him and strikes him down
From the loss of memory, discrimination of right and wrong is lost
By the destruction of the grinding intellect, man perishes. Therefore the Lord warns the aspirant to keep himself away from sense objects and practice self-control
Me: So it starts with attachment… wanting something to go a certain way?
Krishna: Exactly. When reality doesn’t match expectation, the ego rebels. Anger is not strength. It’s a symptom of inner imbalance
Me: So how do I stay centered when someone’s yelling, accusing, blaming?
Krishna: By not making their storm your home. Anchor yourself
Ask: What is mine to hold, and what is theirs to release?
Me: That’s hard in the moment
Krishna (smiling): That’s why I ask you to practice. Just as you train your body, train your mind
“Be steadfast in yoga, O Arjuna. Perform your duty and abandon all attachment to success or failure.” (Gita 2.48)
yoga-sthaḥ kuru karmāṇi saṅgaṁ tyaktvā dhanañjaya
siddhy-asiddhyoḥ samo bhūtvā samatvaṁ yoga uchyate
arjuna perform your duties established in yoga, renouncing attachment and be even minded in success and failure; evenness of mind is called YOGA
what does that mean…
We have two kinds of distractions in this world: distraction by pleasure and distraction by pain
So when we get either of these distractions, pleasure or pain, we get excited or we get agitated. But we understand that actually, neither matters.
Why? Because both are temporary. Therefore, when we don’t get too excited by these things, then we get focused on the long-term goal
Suppose a person is driving and constantly looking this side and the other side, then he cannot be focused, and he cannot go very fast, and he can also meet an accident
Yoga means connection with the ultimate truth
But how will that connection happen? That connection will happen when I am not looking here and there at material things. So this looking here and there happens with my excessive agitation with material things
So if I work calmly, then I stay focused on spiritual reality. ‘Samatvam yoga ucyate.’ This is the art of Yoga, actually being focused.

The verse is a very practical solution to the vicissitudes of life
If we are sailing in the ocean in a boat, it is natural to expect the waves of the ocean to shake the boat. If we get disturbed each time a wave rocks the boat, our miseries would be endless. And if we do not expect the waves to arise, we would be expecting the ocean to become something other than its natural self. Waves are an inseparable phenomenon of the ocean
Similarly, as we wade through the ocean of life, it throws up all kinds of waves that are beyond our control. If we keep struggling to eliminate negative situations, we will be unable to avoid unhappiness
But if we can learn to accept everything that comes our way, without sacrificing our best efforts, we will have surrendered to the will of God, and that will be true Yoga
Me (after a pause): So it’s not about avoiding the world… but meeting it differently?
Krishna: Precisely. The world is loud. You must become still — not to escape it but to transform it
