AN INTERESTING STORY RELATED TO KHEER IN INDIAN CULTURE
Once there was a king named dhananjay . the court had given him the final letter that he should pay all his debts or else he will be thrown out from the throne
the king was so upset as if he had lost his life’s treasure and felt so demotivated that he had not taken care of his ancestor’s crown
the king’s wife, the queen couldn’t bear her husband’s pain and went straight to goddess lakshmi’s temple and kept a night long fasting in front of the full moon – (that night happened to be sharad purnima according to hindu calender) worshipping and asking to ease her husband’s pain and take him out of his ordeal
she made kheer and kept it under the moonlight to get goddess lakshmi’s blessings through the glorious rays of the moon
that night it is said goddess lakshmi blessed the king with wealth and prosperity and the king owned his crown again
from that day onwards, this culture is still being followed in india
during sharad purnima the ladies make kheer and keep it under the moonlight to get moon’s and goddess lakshmi’s blessings for wealth and prosperity
so that was a story on the importance of making kheer during full moon
