In the book ‘ living fearlessly ‘, sri sri paramahansa yogananda has given us the art of living life FEARLESSLY
It mentions about krishna saying : the self is the friend of the TRANSFORMED self, but the ENEMY of the ungenerated self
god has given us one tremendous amount of protection which is more powerful than machine guns, electricity, or any kinds of medicines and that is the MIND
the important journey of life is to get hold of the MIND and to keep that mind controlled
it has to constantly stay attuned to the lord – to the supreme energy
that is the secret of HAPPY SUCCESSFUL EXISTENCE
the story of pRAHLAD in INDIAN mythology depicts Our topic of attuning the mind with god
There once resided a demon king HIRANYAKASHIPU
through several years of penance, he had got a boon from lord bRAHMA that – he would not die during the day or night, either in his house or outside, by battle from either human or animal, nor in land or air and neither by any Weapon created of either metal or wood
the boon gave him a lot of power so he lived carelessly and judged ruthlessly
he started a reign of terror, hurting and killing everyone on earth
in the olden days, giant monsters were called daityas.
HIRANYAKASHIPU was the king of the daityas and he wanted to conquer the world and be worshipped by everyone
he had a son called PRAHLAD who was a big devotee of Lord VISHNU
HIRANYAKASHIPU Became very angry and upset at his son’s devotion to lord VISHNU ( who he saw as his mortal enemy ) as his twin brother was killed by lord VISHNU
but PRAHLAD Continued his affection for lord VISHNU
his father used all illusionary powers on pRAHLAD to change his ways but none of the powers could stand before him
HIRANYAKASHIPU once poured boiling oil on him, threw him from a hill, yet another time into the fire, but each time god protected him from any hurt
this made HIRANYAKASHIPU get all the more angrier
being his son, he tried to convince him to stop worshipping lord VISHNU but PRAHLAD’s devotion grew stronger day by day
so finally HIRANYAKASHIPU decide to kill PRAHLAD
he called upon his sister HOLIKA, a sea demon, to kill PRAHLAD
hOLIKA had been provided with a boon that fire could not destroy her
she chose to take PRAHLAD in her lap and sit on a burning fire
as the fire engulfed, prahlad called lord VISHNU’s name aloud
to everyone’s surprise, the fire slowly ate HOLIKA and she was burnt to death, pRAHLAD was safe and sound
then one day out of frustration, HIRANYAKASHIPU asked PRAHLAD, ” you say that your god will protect you. can you reveal to me where he is”.
to this PRAHLAD Said,’ god is everywhere’
pRAHLAD was standing next to the pillar, so the king asked him, ” if your god is everywhere, is he in this pillar?”
to which PRAHLAD replied ,’ yes ‘
upon hearing this, the king got extremely angry and broke the pillar into half.
thereupon lord vishnu emerged from the pillar in the avatar of lORD NARSIMHA
half human and half lion, it was neither day nor night ( twilight time ) when this happened.
he held the demon on the threshold of the courtyard, neither inside nor outside, placed him on his Thighs ( neither earth nor in the air ).
using his claws ( neither living or non living thing ), he disemboweled and killed the demon
MORAL OF THE STORY OF ATTUNING MIND WITH GOD
god is everywhere.
if one chants god’s name with devotion, he protects one in all circumstances
the universal supreme power is everywhere. we just have to believe that it is there
if we are always in that remembrance, doing good deeds and actions, then no person can destroy us or put us down
one who is unable to live for a moment in remembrance of the supreme lord, being 24 hours a day engaged in devotional service by hearing, chanting, remembering, offering prayers, worshipping, rendering other services and surrendering fully to god.
this is BHAKTI YOGA
one has to start by exercising the mind power, by attuning the mind to god, to the supreme energy ALWAYS, through meditation and by trusting fully in god
always be with this thought that i am the child of god and i have nothing to fear
you will be able to laugh at any troubles that comes your way in life when you have that awareness that you are everlasting in the lord
whenever you are in a problem – remember to first calm your mind with meditation by connecting to the supreme soul by chantings or affirmations and you will be able to see many answers to your problems
and you will be able to pick up the best solution to the problem and meet success

but first you have to take the step as is the popular saying – god helps those who helps themselves
at work, travel, feel the presence of god aLWAYS with you and the Divine protection around you
at night, say that i am protected and mentally surround yourself with the spirit and the cosmic energy and think any germ that attacks me will be electrocuted
and lastly chant AUM 3 times
feel the wonderful cosmic energy and be fearless
that is the power of remaining attuned to god
CONCLUSION
i am no teacher or saint to preach or teach people
but by god’s grace i come upon such references from books and teachings from spiritual books which gives us a lot of wisdom and ways to live our valuable life meaningfully
and teach our ourselves and the people whom we associate with to live with right code of conduct and to raise our standard of living
making smaller changes in life will not only help us be a better individual but also bring a valuable change in the society in the current scenario which is very much required
however small it may be but let’s atleast start from OURSELVES
let’s make the world a better place with our small efforts in all aspects of living
