reading the book the power of positive thinking by norman vincent is an excellent therapy for the mind.
it is a wonderful book and a must buy and must read book for those who wish to enhance their lives in a more fruitful and productive manner
INTRODUCTION ON BEING MENTALLY ACTIVE
it shows how you can grow mentally stronger by believing the god within you and moving ahead in life
by believing that god is within you, helping you and guiding you
you just have to BELIEVE in that force within you
and done with it, you have to affirm it, visualize it, believe it and actualize that thought
by doing this you start become mentally active, stronger and stable by keeping god as your forever companion

secondly, you also lose your energy when you become dull in your mind.. that is the mind becomes bored and tired of nothing
so besides believing in the god in you, what else is
the solution for being mentally active..

1. get interested in something
pursue some hobby and learn and try new things
engaging in mentally challenging activities helps build a reserve of brain power which you can withdraw over the years
chose unfamiliar activities that you enjoy. play chess, take up gardening or learn to play musical instrument
it doesn’t matter what you do, provided the activity is new to you

2. Eat brain boosting diets
foods rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains
nuts are low in saturated fats and sugar and can help brain network and make you mentally active

3. exercises
at least 30 minutes of moderate exercises everyday delivers an Oxygen boost to the brain and helps you to remain active

4. throw yourself into something
just focus on what you need to do and throw yourself completely into the act
to begin a new task with great enthusiasm, setting everything else aside, throwing oneself completely to the task, devoting all the time and attention to the new task in hand thus helping you to be mentally active

5. get out of your own way
meaning get out of your own couch, get out of your comfort zone and try to establish yourself
your own thoughts and action are preventing you from accomplishing your goals. you are the only one holding yourself back
your own self, your habits, behavior, feelings and personal problems are stopping you or creating hurdles in your own life path
trying to get over it by overcoming those obstacles.. only then will you be able to out of your own way and help your mind be active

6. be somebody worthwhile
try to create your own identity
upgrade your style.. your style is the first that gets noticed
improve your body language- the easiest way to project confidence in your body language is to have confident mindset
treat other’s well- be kind and respectful to everyone you interact with goes a long way
live your passion – act on your intentions rather than talk about it.
it demonstrates that you have the ambition and you are working towards it thus helping you to be mentally active

7. do something
at least try to start something even if it is small rather than sitting and contemplating
do not sit around moaning about things, reading newspaper and commenting about the state of the affairs
you should start with developing yourself
it must begin from within you
the key is to make your life joyful each day and be mentally active

8. stay away from negativity
try to stay away from energy draining emotions like guilt, fear and anger or any emotions that pull you down and make you feel low
also stay away from negativity spilling people who do nothing good but only make you feel low

10. try contributing to the society
whenever you contribute, however small it may be, in cash or in kind or even just bring a smile on someone’s face, you know you are doing good and you feel better about it
just do it and experience it for yourself

11. lastly complete surrender
surrender all your acts to god, believe in that supreme power

1. they don’t give away the power in other people’s hand.
2. they don’t allow other people to control their life
3. they don’t waste time feeling sorry for themselves or their circumstances. rather they take responsibility for their role in life
4. they don’t waste their energy on things they can’t control rather focus on what they can control through their attitude
5. they don’t shy away to welcome positive changes in life and understand that Change is inevitable and believe in their abilities
6. they don’t worry about pleasing other people. they are not afraid to say NO or speak up when necessary
7. they don’t waste their time dwelling and moaning in the past. they acknowledge their past and learn from it
8. they don’t fear alone time. they don’t fear being alone with their thoughts and use that time to be productive and spend time introspecting in many avenues
