Broom
Episode 1: Broomstick Yoga: What I Learnt While Sweeping
“I thought I was just removing dust. Turns out, I was removing drama.”
Every morning, there’s a moment when I pick up the broom like a warrior lifts her sword. No drumroll. Just me… and the chak-chak-chak of my sweeping rhythm
And as strange as it sounds, sweeping has become my secret yoga not just for my body, but for my mind, mood, and sometimes even my ego!
🧘♀️ 1. The Postures You Never Knew Were Yoga
Side sweep pose — great for the waist!
Under-the-cot stretch — hello hamstrings!
Balancing on one foot to reach that corner — pure concentration
Forget gym memberships. Five rounds of sweeping with focus and you’ll break a good sweat and a few mental blocks
🧠 2. Mindfulness in Every Stroke
I used to do it mechanically. Until one day, I started noticing…
The way dust travels in spirals
The tiny trail of ants carrying crumbs
The quiet creak of the floor as I moved
It felt meditative. Like a moving prayer
No phone. No noise. Just me and the gentle rhythm of reset
🔄 3. How Sweeping Mirrors Life
Here’s what I learnt with a broom in hand:
Dust comes back every day — so does negativity. Just sweep again
Corners hide more than you think — in the room and in our minds
You can’t clean everything at once — one patch at a time is fine
Sweeping before guests arrive is easy. Sweeping for yourself is grace
🌿 4. My Personal Ritual
Sometimes I light a stick of agarbatti, open the windows, and play a soft chant in the background.
It feels like I’m not just cleaning my home — but my inner space
I even greet the broom before starting. (Yes, like how we don’t touch books or money with our feet.)
Because even the broom — in its quiet way — is helping me maintain harmony
🤭 5. Funny Side Effects
Once swept away a sock while in deep thought — found it in the dustpan
Have had full-blown conversations with myself while cleaning the stairs
My family knows: when I sweep with too much energy = I’m upset. 😂
💬 Final Whisk:
I started sweeping to clean my house
But along the way, I cleaned my thoughts
I swept away irritation, indecision, and sometimes even sadness
So next time you pick up a broom, don’t roll your eyes
Breathe. Bend. Sweep. Smile
You’re doing broomstick yoga — and it’s changing you, one stroke at a time
do read my blog
that’s all friends for now
until next time, keep smiling
much love .. stay happy .. stay blessed .. always
